Dutch Party Leader Jan Paternotte expresses support for Tibet Conference in Riga

Dutch D66 Party Leader Jan Paternotte has issued a message of support to participants of the Tibet Conference held at the Latvian Saeima in Riga on June 6th 2026. In his remarks, he expressed concern over China's recently adopted “Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress”, warned against policies of forced assimilation in Tibet and other regions, and called for stronger European coordination on Tibet, including the appointment of an EU Special Representative for Tibet and the development of a common EU-Tibet strategy.

The EU4Tibet initiative is grateful to Mr. Paternotte for his steadfast support for Tibet and for lending his voice to this important discussion. His commitment to advancing a coordinated European response to the challenges facing Tibet is deeply appreciated.
